Dear Westwood Families,
Thank you for choosing Westwood Community School District for your children’s education. The year ahead is promised to be full of growth both in and out of the classroom as students learn to unleash their potential. A lot of planning goes into preparing for a school year, from strategic meetings with the Westwood Board of Education to team building with teachers and staff, and we are ready to welcome learners back into our buildings.

I am most looking forward to continuing to nurture and cultivate the strong community we have built together. Last school year, we passed a bond for the first time in over 60 years thanks to the dedication and support of our Dearborn Heights and Inkster communities. Over the next several years, infrastructure changes will be made to our buildings that will have a positive impact on the learning experience of our students – further elevating Westwood as an ascending district. To that end, Daly Elementary and Thorne Primary already have new roofing to keep the schools warm and dry throughout the year, and Robichaud High School’s gymnasium is near completion for students and families to enjoy during sports this coming year. I look forward to sharing additional improvements with you as they take place. 

We are committed to continuing to bring students high-quality programs so they can grow into leaders and tackle post-graduation life with ease and familiarity. I enjoy watching a spark of interest and enthusiasm for learning take shape each year, under the thoughtful guidance of our exceptional classroom teachers and staff members.
Perhaps the biggest part of a student’s educational experience and success is their teacher. At Westwood, we are fortunate to have a dedicated team of teachers and staff members who are passionate about inspiring and supporting our students throughout their entire school experience. I feel fortunate to work alongside so many talented individuals who give their all for our students.
